Why do some people have psychopathic tendencies or behaviors, and yet aren't psychopaths?

Our Culture embraces the concept of Success & Power as one in the same, yet embraces the concept of discarding Empathy as it is seen as an obstruction to Success. In addition to that, Phones and Social Media are made with intent to re-wire our Brains and to cause a Dopamine-rush.

This in itself is an example, of Technology and Our Society promoting and engaging in - the reward loop. Of course, this is nothing new, humans always have been born to seek a reward. Its in our nature. But today, Technology is the facilitator of that Reward.

So people embrace Psychopathic tendencies not out of the intent to do so, but rather, it is a manifestation of an increasingly Narcissistic culture.

…Which brings me to my next point, Narcissistic Personality can “mimic” many, if not all of the elements of Psychopathy/Antisocial Personality.

  • Because of Narcissism, one can have low Empathy.
  • Because of Narcissism, one can be Ruthless.
  • Because of Narcissism, one can engage in Risky-activities.
  • Because of Narcissism, one can train themselves to be “cool under pressure”.
  • Because of Narcissism, one can be incredibly Grandiose/Pompous.
  • Because of Narcissism, one can break the law freely, if valued as “for the self”.
  • Therefore, one can have “Psychopathic tendencies” as you call it - if they are a Narcissist or merely embrace Narcissistic qualities and a Narcissistic Lifestyle.
