Many people have asked me if there is an 'herbal remedy' or herbal supplement that is capable of treating Anxiety Disorders and Psychosis - but as of late - the thing has been...
Now, etiologically (by means of cause etc), both Schizophrenia AND OCD are characterized by Poor NMDA-Receptor function [1] [2], poor connectivity/regulation in the Basal Ganglia [3] [4] and altered frontal lobe function [4] [5].
Both OCD and Schizophrenia can be (partly) caused by "desensitized" or no-longer working Dopamine 'autoreceptors' [4] [5] which regulate neuronal firing and Dopamine activity.
Patients with OCD typically have "low levels of Dopamine D2 binding" suggesting a deficit in D2-autoreceptor mediated "control" of Dopamine release and firing [6] [7].
Luvox (Fluvoxamine) the Ideal SSRI-Medication for those with OCD, also increases Dopamine D2-Receptors in the Striatum with long-term treatment [8]. Serotonin synthesis of course may play a role in OCD but for Schizophrenia and Psychosis - the problem is not "sometimes" High Serotonin - and sometimes Low - its almost ALWAYS elevated Serotonin; which precipitates dissociative/Negative and Hallucinogenic symptoms as well as Delirium and Aggression [9]
Lastly, both of these disorders (OCD & Schizophrenia) have been treated (effectively) with CBD Oil or Cannabidiol Oil [10] [11] [12] [13].
Although Sarcosine (an NMDA-Agonist/Glycine Reuptake Inhibitor) can treat OCD [14] and Schizophrenia [15] [16] [17] - it also does so very mildly and usually as an
'Add-On' to current Psychiatric Treatment.
Whereas CBD is proven in the context of Anxiety-Psychosis and Schizophrenia alone without Medication [18] and in Anxiety Disorders (including OCD) where it is equally as effective as mainstream Medications [19].
CBD Oil is WHAT YOU USE for Acute and Long-Term OCD comorbid with Schizophrenia/Psychosis or OCD + Psychotic Delirium.
- "what supplement can treat both OCD and Schizophrenia, specifically?"
First: Read this Overview on Neurobiology of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (NIH/PubMed)

Thus; the Answer to this Dilemma is Very Simple: CBD Oil.
CBD Oil is WHAT YOU USE for Acute and Long-Term OCD comorbid with Schizophrenia/Psychosis or OCD + Psychotic Delirium.
NOTE: CBD Oil can ALSO be used for Each Condition SEPARATELY (alone), although is more effective for Psychotic Behavior/Conditions than OCD - but is nevertheless a POTENT treatment for either one or BOTH.
If CBD Oil doesn't do the trick then the next step would be to add another remedy that can treat both Conditions; Sarcosine would be that Remedy!

Hello, thank you for all your contribution, sorry for my bad english I am from Brazil, I struggle with OCD (maybe Pure O, intrusive thoughts and with hearing voices, I guess just voices that comes with real sounds I hear), Currently using Luvox 100mg in the morning and Quetiapine XR 50mg + IR 75 at night.
ReplyDeleteI research a lot on the internet, what kind of natural treatment or types of exams do you recommend?
Magnolia + Gotu kola? or CBD Oil treatment? It is very hard to buy CBD oil here in Brazil but I guess the other herbs is easy to order online and may be I wont face problems to receive from overseas if needed.
Thank you, I really appreciate all your work here.
Hello Sir/Madam, first you should get a 24-Hour Urine Test/Sample for 5-HTIAA (5-Hydroxyindoleacetic Acid); a Metabolite for Serotonin (5-HT).
Delete--> You should be able to Get (Convince) Your Doctor/General Physician or Perhaps your Psychiatrist (Prescribing Doctor) to Order this Test.
If not...try Blood Test for 5-HT/Serotonin in PLASMA.
Also, Life Extension or *Doctor Ordered* Glutamate (Glutamic Acid) and GABA (Gamma-Amino-Butyric-Acid) tests would be helpful.
Norepinephrine Metabolites in a 24-Hour URINE TEST.
1.) METANEPHRINE/NORMETANPHRINE metabolites (URINE) commonly included in what is called a Thorough "Comprehensive Metabolic Panel/Screening".
*Those ^ should be Tested As Well.
Luvox (Fluvoxamine) has SUPERIOR EFFICACY *mainly* because it has far greater effects on Brain NeuroActive NeuroSteroid-releasing Effects: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20373470
As a Sigma-1-Receptor "Agonist" or 'ACTIVATOR', Luvox (Fluvoxamine) tends to release GABA in much Greater proportions than "PLAIN" SSRI such as Lexapro (Escitalopram) or even Prozac (Fluoxetine).
BTW, you can also Buy Luvox online if you should ever Run Out or have low Prescription Refill: https://www.napsgear.org/product_info.php?ref=2522&products_id=1380&affiliate_banner_id=1

...however, many find "RELORA" is the better Product as it contains both "Phellodendron Amurense" (BERBERINE EXTRACT) which "modulates" rather than *RAISE* or *LOWER* Serotonin in One-Direction or ANOTHER. It also contains the best version of MAGNOLIA BARK EXTRACT.
